Incremental Opportunities for Tech Explainer Video Workflow — 2026-07-28
Newly-documented diagramming tools aren't yet reflected in the production pipeline doc
Projects/tech-explainer-video-workflow.md (also created 2026-07-28) locks in Eraser → Figma (SVG) → Canva as the diagram/design toolchain, but this pass's new Tools/ batch documents two tools with properties directly relevant to that pipeline that the workflow doc doesn't mention:
- Tools/Draw.io has built-in dotted-edge flow animation on connectors — for videos where the point is simple directional flow (a request moving A→B→C) rather than a zoom/scale reveal, this could skip the full Eraser→Figma→Smart-Animate chain entirely for a faster iteration loop on simpler diagrams.
- Tools/Excalidraw gives a hand-drawn/sketch aesthetic with no native animation support — worth naming explicitly as the deliberate choice for any video segment going for a "sketching this out live" feel versus the polished vector look the current pipeline defaults to, since it needs a different capture approach (incremental PNG export or live screen-recording of the drawing process) that isn't in the current workflow doc's Step 2.
Neither changes the core pipeline — Eraser→Figma remains the right default for anything with real animation needs — but both are worth a one-line mention in tech-explainer-video-workflow.md's Step 2 as "when to reach for something other than the default," matching the "Related" cross-links Tools/Figma already has to them.
