Dominant open-source alternative to Amazon_EBS (via RBD) and Amazon_EFS (via CephFS); also a common backend for AWS_Storage_Gateway-style hybrid setups. OpenEBS is the alternative when storage needs to be Kubernetes-native rather than a standalone cluster.
