NAT Gateway
Lets private-subnet resources initiate outbound internet traffic while staying unreachable from the internet; AZ-scoped, billed per-hour plus per-GB processed. Most-used open-source equivalent is pfSense or OPNsense — full-featured open-source firewall/router appliances with NAT built in; a bare-bones self-managed NAT instance running iptables/nftables covers the same function with more manual setup.
